Online Quran classes in Philadelphia
A household in Philadelphia, or just west in Upper Darby, can put a 30-minute Quran lesson on Eastern Time. The call is one teacher with one student. Weekday afternoons fill first. Saturday or Sunday is there when a shift or a practice already owns the evening. Say female or male on the form. The first three classes are free, and the form does not take a card.
The city, the Northeast, and the township next door
Philadelphia and Philadelphia County are one boundary. The Northeast is still that city. Frankford, Mayfair, Bustleton, Fox Chase, and Somerton are neighborhoods inside it. A district school in any of them follows the School District of Philadelphia, not a separate Northeast district.
Upper Darby Township is Delaware County, on the western edge. It is not a Philadelphia neighborhood. Upper Darby School District also serves Clifton Heights and Millbourne, and those families get a different calendar. None of these places leaves Eastern Time. Neither does the rest of Pennsylvania.
Book the number on the kitchen clock. When the clocks move in November and March, that number stays unless you ask to change it. Those Sundays are written on the Eastern Time page. Quran classes after the ride
In Frankford the El often ends, and a bus still has to reach Mayfair or a street farther out. Fox Chase is the end of a regional train, and Bustleton or Somerton can add a long bus or a car after that. Upper Darby households often lose the first minutes at 69th Street, where trains, trolleys, and buses meet. Book the bell itself and the class starts at a station. Hold the time until someone is home and able to sit.
Frankford, Mayfair, and much of Upper Darby are rowhouses and twins with shared walls. Thirty minutes needs a shut door more than a spare room. Headphones help when a sibling is on the other side of the wall. That sibling may still be audible. Dismissal does not clear the next hour. Practice, a younger child's pickup, or the adult who is still changing buses can push the first idea you had. Write it on the form when the first week keeps running late. The standing time can move.
The district year, in short
The School District of Philadelphia published its 2026–27 academic calendar. Students in grades 1–12 start Monday, August 24, 2026. Kindergarten interviews are full days on August 24, 25, and 26, and kindergarten starts Thursday, August 27, 2026. The last day for students is Wednesday, June 9, 2027, and that day is a full day. Winter recess closes schools from December 23 through December 31, 2026. January 1, 2027 is closed as well.
That file belongs to district schools. A charter inside the city can open on another Monday. Upper Darby School District, for Upper Darby Township, Clifton Heights, and Millbourne, is a separate year. A private school is another year again. Match the calendar to the name on the report card before a month of late afternoons gets frozen.
Dark afternoons and June
In January a student who gets home at 5:00 p.m. is already walking in the dark, and a rowhouse stoop is cold. The call does not need a school building, because we do not have one here. Keep the day when the student can sit. Snow or a bus that never came is a reason to move that day, not to abandon the month.
A morning is the simpler request while school is closed: the district winter recess, and the weeks after June 9. Upper Darby, Clifton Heights, and Millbourne may not shut on those dates, and a charter may not either. When the building opens again, bring the lesson back to the afternoon that survived the ride. Leave August 24 on the district calendar where it belongs.
No room to walk to
The teacher does not meet anyone in a room in Frankford, Bustleton, Somerton, or Upper Darby. There is no local office and no in-person class. Mail for Quran Class USA goes to a mailbox in Cincinnati. That address is not a campus and not a desk you visit. The teacher is the person on the call. Say whether you want a woman or a man teaching. The number on this site is the US office line.
Thirty minutes, then stop
When the student is home from the El, the bus, or 69th Street, our teachers listen to one person. Little children open Noorani Qaida and close the laptop at the half hour. An older reader works a single Tajweed correction. Someone memorizing reviews the recent Hifz lines and does not add a pile of new ones. Women and men both teach. Say which you want. No card, and no fee, for the first three. Weekday afternoons are the usual ask. Saturday or Sunday is open when a shift already owns the night. High school students can read classes for teens, and a woman who wants her own lesson can read classes for sisters.
Payment starts only if you stay
Use the three free classes on an ordinary school night, with the El or the bus still in the day, and see whether the teacher matches the request. Nothing is owed for those three. Stopping there is allowed. Staying means the fee begins, for 20 classes across the month, weekdays and a weekend day included. Pay by Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, or card.

Is Philadelphia on Eastern Time, including the Northeast and Upper Darby?
Yes. The city, its Northeast neighborhoods, and Upper Darby Township all use Eastern Time. So does the rest of Pennsylvania. A 4:45 p.m. class is 4:45 p.m. on a phone in Mayfair and on a phone in Upper Darby. November and March daylight changes are explained on the Eastern Time page.
Whose school calendar is this?
The School District of Philadelphia calendar. On the 2026–27 file, grades 1–12 start Monday, August 24, 2026, and the last student day is Wednesday, June 9, 2027, a full day. Do you hold class in Philadelphia or Upper Darby?

What changes in winter recess and in the summer?
On the district calendar, winter recess closes schools December 23 through December 31, 2026, and January 1, 2027 is also closed. A morning is easier in that stretch, and again after the June 9 last day. Upper Darby, Clifton Heights, Millbourne, and city charters can close on other dates. Do not hand them the Philadelphia dates.
