Hifz at home for US kids: pace, revision, and what parents do
Quran Class USA ยท October 17, 2026
Hifz at home is a 30-minute call with one of our teachers, used first to hear what your child already remembers. We do not promise a number of new lines a week. New lines wait until the old ones hold. You choose the days. The first three classes are free, and the form does not take a card.
Start by hearing what they already hold
Tell us the portion, in the note on the free trial form. Juz Amma, a few surahs, half a juz, something they learned at a weekend school. The first calls are that portion, heard back, not a fresh passage stacked on top because the month just started. A child who recites a surah from memory and then cannot find it on the page still needs the print. Noorani Qaida for kids is that start. Hifz of pages they cannot read is how lines disappear.
A young child about four to seven may learn a short surah by hearing it. That can be part of Quran classes for kids. It is not the same job as adding new hifz every week. Say which one you want. We will not turn a kindergartener's class into a memorization schedule to make the booking sound serious.
Revision is the class
Thirty minutes is short on purpose. The teacher asks for recent lines, then older lines, and stops when the half hour is over. If the recent lines slip, that day stays on the slip. A new ayah is not a reward for showing up. It is the next step only when yesterday's lines are still there. A quiet Saturday is not a reason to assign three new pages. One of our teachers will say the line to review, out loud, before the call ends.
We will not publish a weekly line count. Children do not keep memory at one speed, and a number on a website would be a guess. During a sports season or a heavy school month, a short revision they attend is worth more than a bigger assignment they open once.
What you do between calls
Your job is the lines that were named, heard on the days you can manage. Five or ten minutes of the same portion beats a parent-made worksheet of extra pages. You are not the second teacher. You do not pick the next surah after the call because the evening felt productive. If you want a bigger portion, say so at the next class and let the teacher decide whether the old lines can carry it.
For a younger child, sit where you can hear. You will know whether they are guessing the tune or reading. For an older child, you may only need to ask whether they did the named review. Either way, tell the teacher when a day was skipped. The next call should hear the missed lines, not pretend the gap did not happen.
Days, including a North Carolina calendar that moves
You choose how many days. New memorization falls apart when it is almost never heard, so we will say that plainly if you ask for one day a week and a fast pace. We will still teach the days you pick. Many families use a few weekdays plus one weekend morning. Weekend Quran classes can hold the revision when a school night disappears. They are not a second, longer hifz block.
In the Triangle and in Charlotte, the school year is not one calendar. Wake County has traditional and year-round files. Durham and Charlotte-Mecklenburg publish their own. A morning that exists on a track-out week does not exist in September. Quran classes in North Carolina is that difference. Put the real weeks in the note. Do not copy a neighbor's schedule onto your child's building.
Siblings, and the teacher you want
A brother who is memorizing does not share the call with a sister who is still in the letters. Each gets 30 minutes. You can ask for a man or a woman from our teachers for each of them. Back to back is fine if one device has to serve both. Mark both ages and both courses. Hifz in the note means review or new lines, and which portion. "Hifz" alone is not enough.
The trial, and the bill
Use the three free classes to hear the portion they claim to know. You will learn quickly whether the pace you imagined matches the child in front of you. No card is taken for those three. If you continue, the plans listed on the site are Monday to Friday. A hifz week that lives on other days is discussed with our team before you pay. Email info@quranclassusa.com with the portion and the days. We will not invent a per-line price here.
Questions about hifz at home
How many new lines will my child memorize in a week?
We will not quote a number. The class hears what they already hold. New lines are added only when that portion stays, and only inside the 30 minutes.
What is my job between classes?
Listen to the lines the teacher named. You are not asked to assign extra pages. If a day was missed, say so at the next call instead of cramming.
Can a child who is still in Qaida start hifz?
Memorizing a short surah by ear can sit beside letters for a young child. A hifz plan of new pages waits until they can read what they are trying to keep.
